Friends of Girls In Motion
Dear Friend,
Want your children to grow up happy and well adjusted? We all do. Sadly though, many kids, especially pre-teens, face challenges... lack of or overexposure to fitness, the "mean girl" phenomenon, body image issues, bullying, and difficult relationships with the same and opposite sex, just to name a few.
To help cope with these situations and many more, Girls in MotionĀ®, the Dallas-based non-profit dedicated to empowering pre-adolescents to appreciate their own bodies, would like to invite you and your friends to join our new program, Friends of Girls in Motion. It's an exciting opportunity for parents with children of all ages and genders to come together throughout the year and hear from expert speakers on relevant and difficult topics kids today are facing.
For an annual membership fee of just $100, Friends of Girls in Motion members will be invited to hear quarterly talks from area experts on topics such as "The New Age of Bullying," "Dieting Before Puberty?!: A Real Approach to Food and Nutrition for Kids," "Fun, Fresh Fitness for Kids" and "An Eye-Opening Look at Sexual Harassment: Understanding and Handling." Members will receive helpful information on critical issues facing their children on a day-to-day basis, tools to deal with these situations, and hands-on, take home activities to be put into practice at home. In addition, members will receive a monthly newsletter with parenting tips, nutrition tips and recipes, and have quick access to the dedicated blog by Girl's in Motion's Executive Director, Mandy Golman, M.S.
Our first event will be held Wednesday, March 25, at noon, at the home of member Lori Isenberg (6830 Prestonshire Lane, Dallas, TX 75225) and will feature Cathey Soutter, Ph.D., counseling psychologist and Coordinator of Psychological Services for Women at SMU, discussing adolescent relationship issues, "Equipping Children with Tools for Healthy Relationships with Peers of Both Sexes." A light lunch will be served.
